Full scale disaster exercise in Dallas

Office of Emergency Management Full Scale Exercise in Dallas

Dallas Tx - Three simulated large scale incidents will occur in Dallas on December 14, 2010 beginning at 9:00am. The "incidents" will involve specific scenarios utilizing Dallas Police, Fire and EMS as well as other local stakeholders.

Incident #1- Dallas Convention Center Area- Members of the media will have access to this portion of the exercise. Media needs to report to Lt. Joel Lavender on the east side of Ceremonial at Griffin at 8:30 a.m. Information about the exercise will also available at the Emergency Operations Center in City Hall (L2AN).


Incident #2- Dallas Fire Academy

Incident #3- Fair Park

This multiple event is a unique exercise modeling real world-specific conditions. The exercise is being coordinated by the Office of Emergency Management, under the direction Kwa heri Heard.


Trained observers from Homeland Security, FEMA, FBI, DART in addition to Dallas city and county leaders will be on hand to identify points of leverage and the best practices used during this particular exercise.


Results of the training exercise will later be evaluated to determine emergency response, transportation, communications, security, and incident command capabilities. OEM will use the final reports to improve public safety readiness and to meet the needs of our citizens.
